Mykolaiv lies to the west of Kherson, which has already been taken by Russian forces, and is believed to be an essential strategic place on the way in which towards probably capturing Odesa, a metropolis of virtually a million individuals.

Information of the assault comes hours after the Pentagon mentioned that Russian forces are constructing momentum as they inch nearer to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.
“There’s Russian bombardment and shelling occurring fairly violently as we converse,” Pentagon Spokesperson John Kirby advised reporters on Friday. “And we do assess that the Russians are starting to make extra momentum on the bottom in direction of Kyiv, notably from the east.”
